However you're sitting right now, the body has arranged itself. We rarely feel the shape of it until it aches.

In yoga, noticing the body's position, without rushing to fix it, is the start of awareness. Some people find a moment's attention is enough for the body to right itself.

What you'll need

  • Wherever you already are, sitting or standing
  • A moment to check in

Method

Without moving, notice how you're holding the body, the back, the shoulders, the neck, the weight.

Don't correct it yet. Just feel the shape you'd arranged without noticing.

Check in a few times a day for a week, and notice the shapes you fall into, and whether the noticing alone shifts anything.
