How long it stays with you

A meal can leave you light. Another can sit for hours.

In the yogic sciences, you're asked to notice how quickly a food becomes a part of you. In that view, a food still with you after about three hours may be one the body handles less easily. Some people find a few foods sit far longer than the rest.

Which of yours sit longest?

What you'll need

  • Meals you eat often, nothing special
  • A rough sense of the clock, not a stopwatch
  • A note after each one, a word is enough

Method

After a meal, check in with how your body feels. Light and settled, or heavy and slow?

Notice roughly how long it sits before you feel like yourself again.

Jot the food and the feeling. One line.

Give it a week of meals, and notice which foods leave you lightest, and which stay with you longest.
