After the last bite
The evening meal is the one most of us sit straight down after. Then carry to bed still heavy.
Some people find a little movement first helps it settle. A walk, or even a dance.
A gentle walk soon after eating may also help steady the rise in blood sugar, some research suggests.
What would a walk do to your evening?
What you'll need
- 20–30 minutes after your evening meal
- Somewhere to move: a street, a block, a long hallway
- Or just the kitchen and a song, if a little dance suits you better
Method
When the meal's done, don't settle in just yet.
Head out at an easy pace, a stroll, not a march. No room for a walk?
Put a song on and move about the kitchen instead.
Give it a week of evenings. Notice how heavy or light you feel afterwards, and how you sleep.
