Moves Waking the joints

Waking the joints

Share

Most of us only notice a joint when it starts to complain.

The shoulders, the elbows, the wrists — quiet until they aren't.

In Upa Yoga, a simple set of arm movements in each direction is used to free the joints and bring a little ease through the whole body. Some people find a few minutes leaves them looser and lighter.

Which of yours would feel it first?

What you'll need

  • Room to stretch both arms out
  • A few unhurried minutes
  • The guided video to follow along

Method

Watch the how-to video first, then follow along with the guided one.

Move through the arm directions slowly. Don't force it: let each joint open at its own pace.

Once it feels familiar, give it a few minutes most mornings for a week or two. Notice how your shoulders and arms feel as the days go on, looser, the same, or somewhere in between.
