The sounds outside
Behind the noise, there are other sounds. We mostly tune them out.
Birds, wind, water, rain, leaves. Some research suggests natural sounds may lower stress and lift mood, with birdsong the strongest of all. Some people find that just listening, without naming, is a small rest.

What you'll need
- A pause, indoors or out
- Eyes closed, if you like
Method
Stop, close your eyes if you like, and just listen.
Pick out the layers, near and far, natural and not, without naming them all.
Listen for a minute a day for a week, and notice which sounds you'd missed, and how it leaves you.
